DIY Wooden Welcome Signs with xTool Mini Press
Hey friends! I’m so excited to share this latest DIY project with you.
I’ve been working on some adorable welcome signs for the upcoming craft markets, and I just had to give you a sneak peek.
These signs are perfect for sprucing up your entryway, and they were so much fun to make!
Plus, I filmed the whole process, so you can see exactly how I did it.
One of the best parts about this project?
It’s super easy thanks to my new xTool mini press and heat transfer vinyl (HTV).
I used HTV to apply the designs, which not only makes the process smooth but also gives the final product a professional finish.
The crisp, clean lettering really pops against the black background, and I love how the signs turned out!
Supplies I Used:
Blank wooden signs (pre-painted in black)
Twine and bows for hanging
Step-by-Step Process:
I started by cutting out my designs using my Silhouette cutting machine and then weeding out the excess vinyl.
The text for the signs was simple and classic: "Welcome to Our Home," "Home Sweet Home," and "Welcome."
After weeding the excess vinyl, I positioned the designs on the wooden signs
With the xTool Mini heat press, applying the vinyl was a breeze!
I love how easy this press is to use — just set the temperature, press for a few seconds, and voila! The vinyl adheres perfectly every time.
I did some research and set my mini press temperature to 300°F and a pressing time of 20–40 seconds using firm pressure.
Using a mini heat press can do a better job of heating the vinyl evenly, especially on rougher surfaces like wood. It’s a total time-saver and gives a flawless result.
Once the vinyl was applied, I added some twine to the top for hanging and tied a few cute plaid bows for that extra finishing touch.
The whole project took less time than I expected and the results are seriously impressive.
If you’ve been thinking about creating your own custom home decor, these signs are a great beginner-friendly project.
They also make amazing gifts and I’m planning to have a few of these signs at my craft fair booth, so if you’re local, come by and say hi! Follow me on Instagram for dates and locations.
