Halloween Countdown Calendar Free Printable

Halloween is just around the corner and my little guy can’t wait to go trick or treating. So, I made him this cute advent calendar to help count down to the big day.
When I was little my mom used to make a Christmas Countdown advent calendar and tape 24 Hershey Kisses to a cardboard Christmas tree. It was a lot of fun for me and something I will always remember.
I made them for my daughter when she was little and now that my little man is old enough that he’s excited about the holidays this year I’m going to make one for him too.
A couple of weeks ago they went camping and the campground had a Halloween weekend theme. Everyone brought costumes and treats and the kids all went from camper to camper trick or treating.
I think this is an awesome idea because the weather here almost never cooperates. If it’s not raining it’s snowing and it’s normally pretty cold. I was always so upset that I had to wear my coat over my costume… what fun is that, am I right?
Ever since that weekend he’s been super excited for Halloween that’s when I decided he needed this countdown calendar.
I’m thinking that I will laminate one of them and use double-sided tape to stick a Kiss to each day just like my mom did for Christmas.
I know he will love it!
Update: He did love it and just asked me if we can do it again this year. Next year I will have to print an extra one for his little brother.
I just found this photo from last year and I must have used the peanut butter cups on the Christmas countdown. Even the kisses were a little heavy and we ended up leaving it on the counter for the month and he got to have one candy every day when he got home from school.
I’ve been thinking that it might be a good idea to put the paper in a frame and then attach the candy to the outside of the glass. That way it will be able to stand up by itself and you will be able to display it better.
He forgot to bring it home for the weekend and had his mom stop by on Saturday to get his candy, haha. Priorities right?!
At first, I made the one with the empty circles but I thought it looked a little plain so I added some color to the second option.

SUPPLIES I RECOMMEND FOR PRINTING
A PRINTER
If you’re going to be printing in color, I really recommend investing in an HP Instant Ink compatible printer. The quality of the finished product is amazing! If you don’t need a color printer, I highly recommend a laser printer like the Brother L23 Series. You will save hundreds on ink. You can also get a color laser printer which I would LOVE to have!
PAPER
For everyday printables, planners, and coloring pages for the kiddos I normally use Hammermill Printer Paper, 20 Lb. I love that you can get a small box of 3 reams instead of having to buy one at a time or a whole case of 10.
If I want something a little nicer, I use this laser paper which is incredibly smooth and has very little to no ghosting on the other side. This is perfect if you like to use pens/markers that are prone to bleeding through to the other side.
For printing on A5 paper, I use this Blank 6-Hole Punched A5 Paper. You can also get it without the holes but it’s $6-7 more. Which I think is odd because it’s usually the other way around and you have to pay more for the hole punching.
If you're printing a binder cover that you to be fade-resistant and last a long time, the best paper I would recommend using Epson Presentation paper. It's heavy like cardstock (48 lb), is great when laminated, and is made to last for decades.
